Comprehensive Plan for Monitoring Physical Activity and Well-Being in Iranian Students

Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to develop a comprehensive plan for monitoring physical activity, physical fitness, and motor fitness of Iranian students. For this purpose, 14092 students (5239 men, 8853 women) were selected from 20 universities; Alzahra University, Allameh Tabataba'i University, Tarbiat Modares University, Kharazmi University, University of Mazandaran, University of Guilan, University of Tabriz, Imam Khomeini International University, Bu-Ali Sina University, Ilam University, Razi University, Isfahan University of Technology, Shiraz University, Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, University of Jiroft, University of Zabol, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Hakim Sabzevari University, University of Bojnord, and Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, and they were evaluated for physical health in 2017-18.
In order to develop a monitoring system, field research mixed method (qualitative and quantitative), and semi-structured interviews and existing status questionnaire, opportunity assessment, threat, strengths and weakness questionnaires were used.
The finding about the current status of physical activity, physical and motor fitness of Iranian students showed there was a high prevalence of inactivity and an increase in overweight and obesity over the past decade which resulting in lower levels of physical fitness in students. Therefore, to prevent sedentary outputs and fitness in students, need to educate and make a correct culture.
The second part of this study was proved a comprehensive, rational, long-term framework for developing students' physical health and improving their lifestyles. In general, this part of the research has developed a system and framework for monitoring the physical activity, physical fitness and motor fitness of Iranian students and it will serve as an upstream document and a comprehensive guide to the development of student health at universities.
