A Qualitative Exploration in Dimensions of Iranian handball development Based on the Grounded Theory approach

Abstract
Sports Development aims to build strong and stable quality clubs, develop the coaching and administrative infrastructure and to create opportunities for individuals to participate in sporting activities from beginner to international level, while recognizing the important role that Sport and an Active lifestyle play in enhancing Quality of life and promoting health and well-being within the community. Sport development should be in line with better design and more effective ways to promote and increase interest, participation and performance in sports.
However, part of the Sports Development is tied to the concept of developing championship Sport Development And nurturing elite athletes. Green (2005) considers the development of championship sports as the interaction of the three processes of athlete selection and entry into the championship sports system, maintenance, and ultimately the growth and development of the athlete. The purpose of this study was to determine the Dimensions of Iranian handball development using the Grounded theory. This research was an exploratory research and a qualitative nature. The data gathered through documents and interview for 14 handball experts in deep-interview and semi-structured forms. The sample selected through subjective sampling and snowball approach and interviewing continued to get theoretical saturation. Then, data analyzed by grounded theory in coding process included three steps: open, axial and selective coding. The result revealed that there were 36 effective items (open code) that were classified in four categories; Development of basic handball, Development of women's handball, Development of public handball and Development of championship handball. the Factors and components obtained from this research can be a good guide for Investing, deciding and adopting appropriate strategies for the development of handball in the country.
