Abstract
The present study is an attempt to identify the status of talent management among managers and staff of Ministry of Sport and Youth of Iran. The research method was descriptive using surveys. The statistical population included the managers and staff of the departments of Championship Sport and Public Sport in Ministry of Sport and Youth. The sample size was 68 persons. The data collection instrument was Rafiei questionnaire (2011), validity of which was confirmed by 12 sport management experts and its reliability confirmed by Cronbach's alpha (α = 0.78). Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S), independent t-test, analysis of variance and one-sample t-test) were used for data analysis using SPSS with the significance level of p≥0.05. The results of the study showed that from the viewpoints of the managers and staff in the departments of Championship Sport and Public Sports in this ministry, the status of talent management in these departments is undesirable regarding identification and absorption (m = 2.70, sig = 0.001), employment (sig = 0.001, m = 2.59), development (m = 2.78, sig = 0.014), employment (m = 2.64, sig = 0.001) and retention of talents (m = 2.60, sig = 0.001), and is desirable regarding attitude and approach to talent management (m = 3.48, sig = 0.001). Accordingly, identification and absorption, employment, development, employment, and retention of talents should be given more serious consideration by the Ministry of Sport and Youth of Iran.
