Abstract
Beach soccer is a contact sport and high prevalence of injury. One of the ways to prevent injury is to identify common injuries, causality and designing preventive exercise programs. The purpose of the present study was to investigate The Effect of an Injury Prevention Program on Prevalence and Kinetics Risk Factors Related to injuries in Beach Soccer Players. Materials and The present study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) and semi-experimental study. Forty subjects (20 training and 20 control) were selected from two teams of premier country league and randomly divided to two groups. Injury prevalence data were recorded using injury report form of Fuller et al. through interviews with injured players and team physicians. Kinetics risk factors data was collected using a Bosco jump test on force plate (Kistler, model 9290AD). Exercise group followed 12 weeks modified FIFA 11+ warm program. During the intervention, they continued their regular exercise. After the Intervention, the groups were assessed again. Two way repeated measures ANOVA was used to compare between groups and the intervention group as well as the effect of time and the effect of intervention. Prevalence of injury was analyzed by using McNemar tests. All statistical analyzes were performed by using SPSS 22 (p˂ 0.05) Results: Bosco index (F1, 38 = 42.85, p <0.001), power index (F1, 38 = 12.33, p = 0.001) and balance index (F1, 38 = 42.07, p = 0.001) were increased after intervention Prevalence of injury was decreased 30% after training. McNemar Test showed that the training group had a significant decrease in injury prevalence (P = 0.031).
Beach Soccer is contact sports and have high prevalence of injury. Effectiveness of Injury Prevention Program well researched and reported in former studies but in our knowledge on beach soccer this is a first designed injury prevention exercise program which had significant effect on power, balance and Bosco indexes and reduced injuries. Since these program include jumping, plyometric, balance training performed on sand, it can be concluded that these training are recommended for beach soccer players to reduce injury and improve their performance.
