Abstract
The Effect of Playground Activities on Happiness of the Preschool Girls
Purpose: school and kindergartens are great places to play and activity. Children can easily play together in these places .Play brings joy.Happiness means how much you love your life .The World Health Organization emphasizes happiness as a component of health.So the purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of playground activities on happiness of the preschool girl students.
Methodology: The method of present study is a semi-experimental with a pre-test post-test design with a control group. The participants of the study included 24 children (5-7 years old) in Varamin city, who were selected through a multistage cluster sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups (12 subjects) and control (12 subjects). To collect information, , Oxford Happiness Questionnaire was completed in pre-test and post-test. The training protocol included 24 sessions of 20 minutes of playground activities in the school yard. Descriptive measures (mean and standard deviations) and inferential tests (Shapiro-wilk, Leven, independent t and ANCOVA analysis) were used for analyzing the data using SPSS-23 software at a significant level of p <0.05.
Results: The results of covariance analysis showed that, playground activities had a significant effect on happiness of the preschool girls(p<0.05).
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, playground activities can improve happiness of preschool girls ,so Kindergarten and preschool educators can use these results to enhance the mental health of children .Also we suggest all educators to take the child’s play and happiness seriously. Society needs happy children
