Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the causes and types of injuries and their relationship with the prevalence of injuries in during the exercise hours in high school male students in Shiraz. The population of this study was all high school male students of Shiraz city. 302 students were selected according to Morgan table. The research method was descriptive-field and to obtain the desired information, the questionnaire "Mosher Sport Injury Assessment 1998" with a reliability of 0.8 based on Cronbach's alpha was used and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and spss16 software. Overall, the most prevalent injuries were in football (50.33%) and the most common type of injury was in the upper extremity, wounds (31.45%) and in the lower extremity, dislocation (26.49%) and in the trunk, neck, head and face, bruising (39.40%) and the most vulnerable member in upper limbs, fingers (25.49%) and in lower limb, knee (26.82%) and in trunk, neck, head and face, nose (15.89%). The most frequent occurrence of sports injuries in different conditions was related to out-of-school practice classes (48.7%). Of the students, 43.7% reported poor equipment status and 62.3% did not receive first aid at the time of injury. There was a significant relationship between insufficiency and inadequacy of warm-up time, but there was no significant relationship between the methods used in the warm-up program and the fit of the warm-up program with the type of sport. Considering the results of the study, it can be concluded that the high number of students due to the lack of educational space and the lack of secure accommodation on their sports grounds could be the cause of the injury and improving the level of science and expertise of teachers and educators will be effective in reducing student sports injuries.
