Investigating the Role of Social Support in Championship Sport Participation

Abstract
The purpose of this study was investigate the role of social support in championship sport participation. By the salient increase in the role of sport in the economic, social, cultural and even political development of countries, progress in sport has become one of the strategic priorities of planners in different countries of the world. The research method was descriptive-analytical and based on structural equations. The statistical population of this study consisted of coaches and hero athletes of Guilan individual and team who had been selected through random sampling of 143 coaches and athletes who succeeded to won medals. Its face and content validity had been confirmed by Specialists professors in Sport Management and management experts and its reliability had been confirmed by Cronbach's alpha in spss 22 software. Data collection had been done through questionnaires of demographic information, social support, social capital, self-efficacy and championship sport participation by Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.75, 0.79, 0.91 and 0.83, respectively.At the end, collected datas has analyzed by using structural equation technique and smart pls software.The results showed that there is a significant positive relationship between social support, social capital and self-efficacy with championship sport participation.The research model was well-fitted and self-efficacy and social capital played a mediating role in social support and championship sports participation. Social capital, self-efficacy, and social support were able to increase participation in championship sports. According to the results, it is suggested to provide instrumental support, emotional support, information support through social capital and self-efficacy In order to increase the participation in championship aport, its entry and maintenance so we can have valuable athletes in the national and championship arena.
