Abstract
Proprioception is the ability of feeling body movement that is essential to prevent injuries and efficiency during exercise. The lower extremity functional movement screen (FMS) provides a comprehensive analysis of the basic patterns of motion and indicates possible limitations or asymmetries to assist in predicting athletic performance capabilities. The ankles are important parts that play the role of weight bearing and the role of adjusting lower limb movements of Sepak Takraw players. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between ankle joint proprioception and results of lower extremity functional movement screen (FMS) of elite girls Sepak Takraw player.

this study is a cross-sectional design. 15 elite girls 16–25 years old from Sepak Takraw who played for the Tehran team participated in the study according to the research criteria. For lower extremity functional movement screen test we performed four part of the lower extremity FMS tests including deep squat, hurdle step, in line lunge, active straight-leg. Reproduction ankle joint angle was recorded at 20 and 10 degree as objective angles by SPIRIT LEVEL software (keuwlsoft android app) at 3 repetitions. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to investigate the relationship between variables.

The results showed that there were only significant correlations between FMS line lunge test index and ankle joint proprioception (P˂0.05). There was no significant correlation between another functional movement screen tests and ankle joint proprioception (P≥0.05). Therefore, it is recommended that coaches and sports specialists pay more attention to the evaluation of lower extremity functional movement screen and its relation to ankle joint proprioception in the larger statistical population.
