The Effect of Psychological Components on Athletes' Performance According to Researches in the Past 10 Years

Abstract
The sport psychology is a new science aimed to enhance the psychological and social skills of athletes, and the use of coaches and athletes to achieve this in advanced countries in the world and in the Olympics has made them remarkable successes. Therefore, the purpose of this research is a systematic review on the impact of psychological factors on athletes' performance over the past 10 years.

The method of this study is review in the end of 2019 through reviewing Persian articles in Magiran, Noormags, Civilica, Journals Database, University Jihad Scientific Database using keywords like perfectionism, personality, motivation, arousal, anxiety, resilience, mental toughness, emotional intelligence, mental strength, happiness, group, individual and environmental interactions, imaging, mental exercise were analyzed and finally 90 articles were analyzed.

The findings indicate that the influence of various factors, from the occurrence and location of the exercise activities to the personality characteristics of the athletes and gender all influence the success or failure of the athletes. According to research on Iranian athletes, it seems that most of the athletes are in a good position in terms of components such as locus of control and motivation, but they need basic training in components such as mental and psychological strength and psychological skills. Psychological training should be given to the athlete considering the athletic field, training and competition conditions to make a significant impact on his performance each of the psychological components will have a specific impact on the type of athlete's performance. For example, maintaining the desired level of athletic perfectionism can achieve a peak performance. In individual athletes, the level of goal orientation and psychological consequences of exercise is higher than that of team athletes.


In reviewing all articles on psychological factors affecting the performance of athletes, attention to the different personality traits of each athlete, as well as their training, race, and gender status may be involved in the psychological guidance provided to him. It is also important to consider how psychological components affect the performance of athletes.
