Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of aerobic training with and without music on physical fitness, social relationships and depression in middle-aged women in Kermanshah. The statistical population in this study was all middle-aged women (45-60 years) in Kermanshah. The sample size was 60 persons, who were randomly divided into three groups: aerobic with music, aerobic without music and control. Before starting the exercise protocol, muscle endurance, social relationships, and depression were assessed and measured. Experimental groups performed aerobic exercises with and without music for 8 weeks (3 sessions per week) and the control group did not perform any motor activity during the study. Finally, after doing the exercise protocol, a re-test was used to assess strength, muscle endurance, social relationships, and depression. Dependent t-test was used to determine the difference between the pre-test and post-test of the experimental and control groups. Also, ANOVA (P<0.05) was used to compare the study groups. Independent t-test results showed a post-test between the experimental and control groups on the variables of muscle strength (P= 0.001), endurance (P= 0.003), social relationships (P= 0.016) and depression (P= 0.001), There was a significant difference. But the difference in posttest was not significant. The results of ANCOVA test showed that between aerobic exercise group with and without music muscle strength (P= 0.001), muscular endurance (P=0.001), social relationships (P=0.001) and depression (P=0.001) the difference was not significant. Accordingly, it can be stated that eight weeks of aerobic training with and without music had a significant effect on muscular strength, endurance, social relationships, and depression.
