Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of ergonomics and exercise on amount of correcting the musculoskeletal disorders of Tabriz Metropolitan employees. The statistical population of the study was included all female and male staffs of Tabriz Mega-City municipality.
Statistical samples of the study were estimated based on Cochran formula of 1242 people who were selected randomly from 9 municipalities. The researcher-made questionnaires consisted of eight sections, the first five sections consisted of questions on Individual, occupational, behavioral, socio-economic characteristics, disease records, and the sixth and eighth sections, respectively, on the Nordic General Specific Questionnaire. And the seventh part of the questionnaire contains the evaluation of feeling discomfort. Also, the second stage of the research questionnaire contains various questions for assessing the office work environment and employees' feelings when using the workstation equipment and measuring the dimensions of the workstation by the researcher. Descriptive statistics were used to organize and summarize the data, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to ensure normal distribution of data, and dependent t-test and Spearman correlation coefficient at the significant level of 0.05. All calculations were performed using Spss19 software.
The results indicate that there is a relationship between the risk factors and the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders. Also, training in the principles of ergonomics and exercise affects the rate of correction of musculoskeletal disorders.
Since convenient, efficient and timely staff training has a great effect on the identification and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders in working people, therefore, training the principles of ergonomics and exercise to make changes in the workplace and workplace-acquired abnormalities to reduce discomfort in the musculoskeletal system is suggested as an intervention.
