Abstract
Myostatin is a secreted growth factor that express in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue that negatively regulates skeletal muscle mass, cause to reduction of muscle mass and increase in fat mass and Insulin resistance. Adipolin express in adipose tissue, particularly in adipocytes also this expression down regulate by obese states. Moreover, Adipolin enhances Insulin signaling in liver and adipose tissue in obese and diabetic, thereby leading to amelioration of glucose tolerance and Insulin sensitivity.
The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of 8 weeks combined training on insulin resistance, muscle power and serum levels of Adipolin, Myostatin in obese men.
Twenty obese men (age=34.8±3.58 years) were divided into 2 groups: combined training (CTG [strength+aerobic], n=10), and control group (CG,n=10). CTG performed aerobic training (50% -70% maximum heart rate/ 7.5 minutes to 22.5 minutes) and resistance training (1set, 10 repetition, 30% 1RM to 2 sets, 6 repetition, 70% 1RM) 8 weeks and 3 sessions in a week. The blood samples were measured in basic conditions and 48 hours after training period. Our data have been analyzed by independent t-test on SPSS software.
The results showed that Adipolin (p=0.023), 1RM leg press (kg) (p=0.001) increase significantly and fat percentage (P=0.001), waist circumference (p=0.001), Insulin resistance (p=0.006) decreased significantly in CTG compared to CG. But Myostatin didn’t show significant changes in the exercise group compared to control group.
The investigation result showed that combined training increase Adipolin levels that led to improvement of the metabolic state, Insulin resistance, fat percentage and muscle power occur of increasing muscle mass.
