Assessing the macronutrients intake status of female national karate team

Abstract
appropriate nutrition especially the energy intake and the essential and adequate nutrient in female especially athletes is so important. Furthermore different studies have shown that inadequate and unbalanced intake of nutrients including micronutrient and macronutrient, have negative effects on exercise performance and optimal ability ;besides, it decreases physical efficiency in athletes. Due to lack of comprehensive studies on the nutritional status of karate athletes; this study was to evaluate the nutritional status of female national karate team.

this research is a descriptive-analytic study was carried out on 15 subjects of female national karate teams in the age group of 14 to 18 . General characteristics were collected using questionnaires and performing anthropometric measures .also recording food intake in 7 days, & recording seven-day activity forms was completed. After completing and Collecting forms, all nutrition intake of athletes recorded in nutrition4 software. Then calorie intake and macronutrients calculated by nutrition4 software. Datas analyed by Spss 22 software.

the average age karate players , body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (WHR) was 16 , 21 ± 2kg/m2 , 0/82 ± 0/56, respective. the average of daily calorie intake and energy expenditure was 2368 ± 540 , 2446 ± 354 kcal/day. the average intake of carbohydrate, protein, and fat was according to dietary reference intakes (DRI); carbohydrate, protein and fat constituted 55/6%, 14/52% and 30/11% of total energy, respectively.

The results suggested that the macronutrients intake of female national karate team was according to dietary reference intakes (DRI).
