Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a mindfulness- training course on learning basketball free- throw skill in high impulsivity among high school girl students in Maragheh city.
For this purpose, 24 volunteers aged 15-17 years old from a high school in Maragheh city were selected from the volunteers who achieved the highest impulsivity score on the Barat Impulsivity Scale and were randomly divided into two groups of 12 (experimental group and control group). Barat Impulsivity Scale and Mindfulness Scale Questionnaires as pre-test and post-test evaluated the groups. The experimental group and control group practiced two sessions per week for eight weeks and each session three packs of five attempts, but the experimental group performed mindfulness exercises for two sessions before starting physical training. Paired t-test was used to investigate impulsivity changes in pre-test, post-test, and repeated measures ANOVA was used to test hypotheses. All statistical analyzes and operations were performed at P <0.05.
The results showed that no significant difference between the experimental group and control group in the acquisition, immediate retention, delay retention and transfer stages.
The results of this study suggest that impulsivity impairs learning and mindfulness is the method for improving learning in individuals, however, this intervention method could not counter the negative and destructive effects of impulsivity. Be accountable in learning the free-throw basketball skills. Further research is needed to examine the impact of impulsivity on learning sport skills, as impulsivity may not affect learning at all.
